Access AI Education is an organization dedicated to making AI education accessible to young people.
We offer free classes that help children understand artificial intelligence, how it learns, and how to use it thoughtfully.
Our four-week program is primarily for ages 6–11, with other ages welcome. We teach in schools, community settings, and online.
Our free four-week program
Students meet for one hour each week. The four classes introduce AI through explanations, familiar examples, questions, and activities. There is no cost to take part.
We start with what AI is, then look at how it learns and how generative AI creates content. The final class brings the ideas together through review and games.
Week 1: What is AI?
Explore examples, patterns and predictions; learn how to tell fixed rules from systems that learn from data; and investigate decision trees.
Week 2: How does AI learn?
Learn about training examples and labels, supervised and unsupervised learning, and how biased or incomplete data can lead to mistakes.
Week 3: Generative AI
Explore how generative AI can create text, images and music, how text prediction works, and why clear prompts matter.
Week 4: Review and games
Revisit the first three lessons through review questions and games designed to reinforce the ideas.
Why we teach AI
We want young people to understand the technology they encounter. That means learning what AI can do, recognising its limits, and feeling comfortable asking questions about its answers.
Our classes look at the examples AI learns from and how incomplete or biased data can lead to mistakes. We also introduce generative AI and discuss how clearer instructions can affect what it produces.
The purpose is to help students use their own judgement when they use AI.
Where we teach
Access AI Education has taught students at schools and community venues in the Lower Mainland, as well as through online lessons. Our online teaching includes students in Taiwan.
Since starting in April 2026, we have reached students both in person and online.

The people involved
Access AI Education was founded by Calvin Shu and co-founded by Evan Borodow. Both are students at St. George’s School.
